Itinerary - Bali 360°: Ubud and Seminyak
Welcome to Bali!
Welcome to Bali!
Flights to/from the UK are not included in the package, so you can decide which airport to depart from, at what time and with the airline you prefer... This is to give you maximum freedom of choice. Check-in at the hotel in Kuta and welcome meeting. We take the afternoon to settle in - and catch up on jet lag! Towards evening we go searching for the most characteristic restaurant we can find and taste some typical dishes - the choice is really wide, but there is no doubt on the starter: coconut rice for everyone!
Lake Bratan, temples and rice fields
Among the rice fields
Good morning Bali! Waking up in this little paradise on earth makes everything sweeter: we get ready and then we start exploring the island. Let's start of course from the rice fields, undoubtedly one of the first things that come to mind when talking about Bali: we visit Jatiluwih, rice terraces that are considered among the most beautiful on the island - not surprisingly, they have also become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We walk between the rice terraces and take our time to appreciate this landscape - and find the best spot to take some photos!
Among the Indonesian temples
After a quick lunch we leave for Lake Bratan, also one of the most iconic places in Bali. Of course, we cannot fail to visit the Temple of Ulun Danu Bratan, the most important Shivaist temple in Bali, dedicated to the goddess of water Dewi Danu. It is no coincidence, since Lake Bratan is the most important water reserve in the area. We then continue to the Handara Gate, Bali’s Gate - which many confuse with the Gate of Paradise, but it is not this one! Make sure your cameras and phones are charged because we already know we’ll drain the battery with all the photos we’ll take! However we cannot stay too long. Tonight the welcome dinner awaits us and we cannot be late!
Bali Swing and Waterfalls
An intense day
We wake up early, ready for another day in Bali: this morning we go up to Wanagiri Hill, where we can swing on one of bali's many famous swings - and enjoy a breathtaking view, of course! - and then we get ready to do some exercise! Step by step, we arrive at the Sekumpul Waterfall, a majestic waterfall that emerges from the vegetation. Drop the clothes and... who’s the first to jump in? After lunch we leave again, towards Lake Batur, a lake that is located inside a caldera of an active volcano, Mount Batur. Once we arrive, we settle down, grab a bite to eat and then... in bed early! Tomorrow’s alarm clock is off very early!
Sunrise over Mount Batur and the mother temple of Besakih
A unique sunrise
We wake up around 2 am (obviously those who want can stay in bed to sleep, but they are going to miss out!) and we go to enjoy a spectacular sunrise on Mount Batur: how many can say they have seen the sun rise from an active volcano? Few, we tell you. We then return to the hotel or, to relax big time (we deserve it at the end of the day), we go to the thermal baths of Toya Bungkah.
After lunch we then leave for Ubud, but first we stop to visit the Mother Temple of Besakih, the most important and largest temple of the Hindu religion of Bali, and the Tirta Empul Temple, where we can bathe in its pools and do the ritual of the purifying bath. We arrive in Ubud in the late afternoon, we settle in the structure and then we go out, looking for a place to dine and then spend the evening in.
Rafting and temples
Good morning Ubud! We should wait a few more hours before exploring the city: this morning, in fact, we will reach the bank of the Ayung river with our van for an exciting rafting morning! And if we get hungry afterwards, no problem: lunch is included! With a full belly we return to Ubud, ready to explore the city; there are many temples scattered everywhere, we can start from the Pura Taman Saraswati and then continue visiting the Puri Saren Palace. We can go to the Botanical Garden or walk along the Campuhan Ridge, a pleasant walk that takes us just outside Ubud to a viewpoint from where we can admire the valley.
Let's make friends with monkeys
Another place that we cannot miss here in Ubud is definitely the Monkey Forest: we enter this sacred place where the monkeys are the real masters, and we try to make friends. But be careful: the monkeys are little thieves and they will easily steal our glasses and hats - which we will then have to get back in exchange for food! Towards evening we go for a walk to the market, where we can find local handicrafts: is it time to think about souvenirs?
Pure Uluwatu Sunsets
Quad or relax?
We spend the morning in Ubud in total relax: on one hand we can do yoga and find our inner balance, on the other, we can try to balance ... on a quad bike, exploring the jungle! If neither option pleases us, we can go in search of the perfect photo by visiting the Tegallalang rice fields. After lunch we leave for the Bukit peninsula to reach the Pura Uluwatu, a temple perched on the rock along the coast: here we stop to wait for the sunset - there is probably no better location! We arrive in the evening in Seminyak, ready for our last day in Bali!
Seminyak: relax, yoga and party
The last day
We wake up in the city where we started this journey, aware that today is our last day of travel and that therefore we must live it to the fullest! This morning everyone can choose the activity they prefer: we can take part in a yoga class or a cooking class to learn how to cook a real Indonesian dish! Another alternative: absolute relaxation with a nice massage! In the afternoon we have free time to devote ourselves to some pre-departure shopping - or any other activity that pops into our minds! Tonight we finally have our farewell dinner: it will be the last shared dinner, so let's enjoy it to the fullest!
