Costa Rica: Pacuare River, Arenal and the Pacific Coast
The trip in a nutshell
Self-driven tour
This is a self-driven tour. We love a road trip us, and not just for the throwback playlists, but because it gives you the freedom to truly explore a destination. If you feel willing and comfortable to drive, let us know when booking. I'm sure that as a thanks, your non-driving travel buddies will keep you well-fed with snacks!
If we asked you to sit down and design the perfect travel destination, there is a good chance that you would come up with somewhere that looks an awful like Costa Rica. With its luscious rainforests, picture-perfect volcanoes, palm-fringed beaches and abundant wildlife, it is the perfect place for an adventure.
On this trip you will experience the best of what this magical country has to offer. So get ready to tackle the white waters of the Pacuare River, pull on your hiking boots to discover epic views of Arenal Volcano, navigate jungle trails in search of unspoilt waterfalls, and relax with a fresh coconut in hand as the sun sets over the Pacific. Pura vida, indeed!
Travel Mood
There will be transfers of several hours in duration, necessary to explore the most fascinating parts of the country. Willingness to drive in a 4x4 along sometimes unpaved roads is ideal. Compact luggage is obligatory, as you will travel by private car for the entire journey and will be changing accommodation regularly.

A good level of fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the trip, as a day of rafting is included and there are several optional activities to take advantage of, including hiking and surfing.
